vshnayderIt's 5:15am, and I'm awake due to silly allergies to Boston. Hopefully the benadryl I found in my emergency pack will kick in soon and I can go back to bed.
But since I'm awake anyway, might as well use the time for a real update.
Things that have happened lately:
Back in June-July: road trip to Banff, CA. I'm still working my way through sorting the 1500 or so pics we took.
I've gone sailing with Kate on the MIT Tech Dinghies a couple of times. I want to go more, but she's been too busy. But tomorrow (I think), it'll be a full moon and there'll be sailing till midnight, so we're probably going again.
Hiked up Mt Washington with Ben. It was a really fun hike, with some interesting weather. Mt Washington is known for having the world's worst weather, and pretty much lived up to it, for a summer day when it was supposed to be warm out. During the 6 hours or so we were hiking, it was hot, cold, sunny, cloudy, foggy, windy, calm, rainy, not-rainy, haily (that's probably not a word, but I'm using it anyway. So there.) Luckily, I had my rain gear, including the ever so stylish hat shown in my new LJ icon, so it wasn't a problem.
Last week, I volunteered at a conference (Mobiquitous, for those who care/know), since it was in Cambridge, and I'd get to go for free if I did. It was quite interesting to see some of the backend stuff that goes into organizing a several day long event for over a hundred people. And the technical sessions were pretty interesting too.
Finally sent off the final copy of my sensys paper on friday. Whee :) Now to get started on a few more projects.
Helped Mindy move her stuff to my place-she's leaving for a couple of weeks and needed a place to store things till she can move into her dorm. And conveniently enough, I have a basement. In return, she'd been feeding me random food for a couple of days. (Including cookies. I like cookies. A lot.)
Earlier today (or does it count as yesterday if I've already slept for a few hours), I finally went shopping and bought a whole lot of food, and then made a huge vat of chili. It turned out quite well, I think. And then I came over to Kate's place to help her put together furniture. We assembled a few things and went to bed.
Oh, and the other thing that's happened recently is the acquisition of several new toys: a new computer (PowerMac+20" flatscreen), an iPod, and a new digital camera (Sony DSC-W1). So now I'm kinda poor, but since it had been quite a while since I bought any digital toys, I figured it was time. So I've been playing with my camera a lot. It's really fun. (I'd post some pics, but I don't have access to my computer right now-silly NAT router).

And now I'm going to try to go back to bed.
